Attendees of a morning yoga class at a Bengaluru wellness studio have raised concerns about instructor Kavita Nair, 38, who repeatedly opens each session with the statement 'Remember, this is your practice — not a competition,' before proceeding to make it very much a competition. Students report that Kavita maintains a covert spreadsheet tracking each participant's flexibility progress, holds unannounced 'form assessments' she frames as 'just checking in,' and recently reorganised the class seating to place more flexible students at the front 'for lighting reasons.' When confronted, Kavita said: 'I'm simply here to facilitate your journey.' The spreadsheet, glimpsed by one student, has columns labelled 'Warrior II quality,' 'Ego issues,' and 'Competition threat level.'
