The survey found that voters were significantly more successful at naming celebrity relationships, TikTok trends, and the complete discography of obscure 90s bands than they were at naming their elected representatives. One respondent said, 'I know more about the drama between those two people on Love Island than I do about who represents me in Congress, and honestly, I care about both equally.' The poll also found that 89% of 18-24 year olds could name the current season's Bachelor contestants but only 12% could name their congressional representatives. Researchers recommend installing a 'representative reminder' app on all smartphones.
