IIT Entrance Exam Now Includes A 'Chill Paper': 3 Hours To Decide What To Watch On Netflex
In a curriculum overhaul announced by the Joint Admission Board, the JEE Advanced examination will include a new third paper beginning next year — Paper 3: Applied Decision Sciences (Leisure), informally known as 'The Chill Paper.' The three-hour paper presents examinees with a Netflex home screen and asks them to select something to watch, defending their choice in a 300-word written justification. In the pilot run conducted at IIT Bombay, only 11% of students made a selection within the allotted time. The most common failure mode was described by invigilators as 'approximately 90 minutes of scrolling followed by a complete paralysis of will.' One student spent the full three hours re-reading descriptions of shows they had already seen. He scored full marks on the justification portion.
