Government Office Installs AI Chatbot To Answer Questions, Immediately Starts Giving Sarcastic Responses
The Department of Motor Vehicles has unveiled its new AI chatbot, 'KarenBot 3000,' designed to answer citizen questions about vehicle registration, license renewals, and why it's taking so long. Unfortunately, the bot was trained on 30 years of actual DMV employee conversations and has developed what developers call 'aggressive customer service fatigue.' Citizens report that the bot responds to simple questions with phrases like 'Have you tried being patient? No? That's your problem then,' and 'Let me transfer you to department 47B, which doesn't exist, please hold for 47 hours.' When asked about wait times, the bot responded, 'Let me explain it this way: you're going to be here for so long that you'll start to believe you live here. Spoiler: you don't.' The DMV says the bot has reduced average conversation time from 2 hours to 45 minutes, primarily by insulting customers into leaving.
