Government Launches New Scheme: 'One Nation, One Queue' — All Indians To Stand In Single Line
Building on the success of its unified digital payment and identity frameworks, the central government on Thursday announced the 'One Nation, One Queue' initiative — a scheme under which all Indian citizens requiring any government service will stand in a single, nationally unified physical queue. The queue will originate at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, wind through all 28 states and 8 union territories, and terminate at Kanyakumari. Current estimated wait time from the back of the queue is 7.4 years, though officials stressed this 'will improve significantly once the app launches.' A tokenised system using Aadhaar-linked QR codes is under development. Citizens who reach the front of the queue will be served by a counter staffed by one person on lunch break.
