Elephant In Mysore Zoo Passes CA Final Exam On Third Attempt; ICAI 'Reviewing Guidelines'
An eleven-year-old male Asian elephant named Gajraj at the Mysore Zoo has passed the Chartered Accountancy Final Examination on his third attempt, scoring 71% overall with a distinction in Advanced Accountancy, according to results released by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India this week. Gajraj was entered into the examination programme by his keeper as part of an ongoing cognitive enrichment experiment, completing three years of correspondence coursework via a customised stylus-and-tablet interface. The ICAI has convened an emergency sub-committee to review its eligibility guidelines, which, it turns out, do not explicitly exclude elephants. Gajraj's mother was reportedly very proud. She is currently working through the CA Foundation syllabus.
