BSNL Launches 6G Network In India; Signal Quality Described As 'Classic BSNL'
State telecom operator BSNL launched India's first commercially available 6G network on Thursday in a ceremony at Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi, marking what officials called 'a new chapter in India's digital journey.' The new network, which theoretically delivers speeds of up to 1 terabit per second, received its first independent field test from tech journalist Pradeep Rao, who reported sustained speeds of 180 Mbps in the corridor immediately outside the launch venue, 4 Mbps in the lobby, and 0 Mbps in the parking lot, where the signal was replaced by a notification reading 'Searching… BSNL 6G.' BSNL's spokesperson called this 'an area-by-area rollout in progress' and noted the network would cover all major Indian cities 'as per schedule, which is confidential.'
